When – when – was wonderful

I rode a silver horse
Across lands of red and blue
A steed of many kinds
Yet mine to ride as a fool

And did I ever
Crack that whip
Riding hard through my times, only trip

Of when and then and through mud and snow
Of life’s worst and best moments
Don’t you know?

I rode a silver horse across fields of folly
Stitched with risk
Tied to a party

And yet when, became then to me
I saw another rider
And it was me

Alone I was standing next to life’s tree
One so tall, one so full
A memory of life
Lived to the full
