That October before me

That October before me

Comes with some thought

Of battles for hills

Won and lost

And for valleys

Trudged through

And swamps, there again

That October before me reminds me, my friend

While I lay here

And through gauge covered sight

I am reminded of a medic’s words, from the night

That I shouldn’t be scared

Or afraid of where to, I’ll go

For now, my riddled body rests

Quietly

Upon

A flat bed

Or better said, gurney

Till I’m pronounced dead

Yet cry no more, for I stand at the door

Where I’ve come to know of where I am to go

Above and beyond

Where cleared eyesight

Can see every tree below

And cloud with no dread

My soul flourishes here within this new

Atmosphere,

A place once told, I would go

When my time there on earth

Gave up to a spirted, first

Gave up to a spirited first

Gave up to a first, spirits new earth…

That October before me….
