Aging Rock Star

The aging rock star

Sat

His darling groupie

Got old and fat

His wrists would still roll around beating out

A drummer’s sound

The band went flat

The time met up with

No regard

Oh how old we get

With or without

Permission, yet

The aging rock star

Sent his wife a text

I’ll be back when the life of me

Is left

On a wooden stage

Lit with lights

Exposing innocent

Hidden delicious delights.

The Chase

Was without a doubt

Hot and steamy, with an arrows tout

There I was

Strong and able

Till Melissa rendered me, disabled and out

Oh.. What a fine lass she was

I wonder if she still thinks of me, When I was

Young and hip

Strong and able

To take and hold her

Into a stable

Oh when I was young and able

For her to become a life’s long love

Over trouble, waters

And disabled thought from above…

And here’s to her

So young and frail

I guess she and Mary

Both hated and loved me,,, damm hard to hear

One Rode In

57 years ago, around this time of year, I was sitting on a dusty soccer field with a small group of other new Webster Academy students. We are all just getting to know each other after dinner.  Twilight gradually yielded to dusk. The conservation generally were veiled confessions about what we did so wrong that remanded us to the joint. Eventually, it got darker. And so, too, the conversation which turned to metaphysics. Each more or less postulated about their ideas. Religion, universe, etc.

When my turn came, I looked up, around and back to the 5 or 6 of us, and said,” How do we know we’re the only ones here right now?”

What? came back.

I said, “What if another life form or something shared our space, but we can’t see, touch, smell them, it??, they?”

That punctuated the end of that meeting. Looking back, I was referring to something I had absolutely no prior knowledge of, nor many others at that time did as well.

Parallel universes. Multiple dimensions.

I’ve never forgotten that . Have wondered where it came from. And now it’s abundantly clear why and how I wrote my first novel “One Rode In”. It was always in the cards! If you have inclinations that there are other forces in our world we don’t really understand but your experiences tell you they are; you’ll like this read and the two others subsequently.

NOW!

DO IT NOW!

roll down the road of no regrets

You weakling sad sort

Don’t you know what’s at risk here

You have no balls, no guts, nothing at all

Yes, so you say is true but, for a second or two

Take a look at whats at is stake you delerious fool?

Fool, Hardly I say. Tis you and you kind that set’s the bar for no one to climb

BUT BOOM will come and within the smoke fire and hell in it, will be the end I promise

So, in the end

What?

In the end…as you say my friend Jay

What?

Oh shit..are you stupid?

Yes, a bit and a bit daft

And that is a sad misfit’s, last

And Chopin droll’s on and so I lift the world with a nothing song, but IN THE END

End?

End, tis all of ours, hours lost to then

What the hell are you talking about!!!

I’m saying then and now, tis what all is about in my last breaths of reason and doubt…

Ohh. heck yes, now I see, death and triumph mean little to me, but to you, its a magical duel. Isn’t it?

Yes, it tis.

So go ahead.. I dare you. PULL the pin and let the remains of all float above all and within

Ah, so it be true

Death and love comes so frequently to you

Yes, it does, sad to say

And say what you wish

for tomorrow may

BE YOUR LAST!!

And in the end

We will all know

What it is, was, that drives fools

Me?

Yes, no, what do you think…You’re the one who is , well never mind we don’t want to upset the …well, who is it we’ll upset anyway. They don’t talk or say anything, anyway

Gee, I don’t know But know this. I HAVE MADE UP MY MIND

And that is?

Tomorrow, I’ll be fine. Wil you?

Why what do you mean?

I mean I’ll be off to worlds unknown al the same and you, you ass

You’ll be stuck here with a finger stuck up your..A

Ummm, I will but I’ll be a

Alive? So will I but not here, dear, friend of mine

So the neighborhood will fade to black?

Or, gray, depends on the time of day don’t you know

Oh, how I wish I was when things seemed so complicated but looking back.. they were so slow

Yes, slow, ROCK and ROLL slow?

Ha, Hendrix, Jimi that is/was would have argued such. So now I’m Tired. Let me rest, here, under the palms of yesteryear

And rest and sleep until the morn creeps

And the afternoon sun does break and wake all of the best and melts docile snowflakes?

Yes, I will now pack and say good bye to my hood. And say adios to all who are lucky to be in love

Love? Is that that ails you?

Yes, and NO. For I have been given the best to hold so dearly onto. Bye for now. I sleep till I wake. Make no mistake, tomorrow will be the last of a complicated life full of love and strife.

But?

But WHAT!?

Tomorrow peace for now

Who lives there

On this street?

A nice couple in the Tudor..retired, teacher’s I think

And there, picket fence?

A tribe it seems..7 cars

Are they liked?

Disliked?

Well, neither I think. Tolerated I’d say

Who’s that on the driveway ?

Someone.

Someone? you kept shrinking in your seat.

Yes, just someone.

You know that someone don’t you

yes, yes I do

How so?

Won’t say, I just do.

Well tomorrow we best be getting to the point of this ride around the neighborhood, shouldn’t we?

Yes, I guess..tomorrow will be best..

Yes, tomorrow. You can say where it will be…

Okay, well, maybe I will

And then that one there

Lives a couple in complete despair

Why

Because she doesn’t love him but another to be sure

And he, too, a girl friend yes without much to do

And there , over there. At the house with fawn shutters

Kids play in the yard and bark jeers that have nothing to say. And yet life goes on

Dad won’t be home tonight or at all, for he’s long gone.

But isn’t there anyone happy yet?

Yes, oh yes, they’ve not been found out it’s said. Rare it tis. Filled with times only friend.

Doing whatever that makes their rich song.

So what about me? Am I not to be?

Ah yes you are, but that in tomorrows song….
